Kelly McGivern
PT, DPT

Kelly grew up in Kirkland, Washington where she attended Lake Washington High School, Go Kangs! She then attended Western Washington University where she graduated in 2013 with a Bachelors of Science degree in Kinesiology and a focus in pre-physical therapy. She spent 10 months gaining expertise and knowledge as an aide for Lake Washington Physical Therapy. After her outstanding experience at LWPT, she furthered her education at University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences in sunny San Diego. She received her Doctorate in Physical Therapy in August of 2016. Kelly’s last semester of graduate school focused on spinal and extremity manual therapy.

During Kelly’s education she had the opportunity to work in a variety of settings. Her first clinical rotation was at Sunnyvale Health Care Center in Sunnyvale California, where she worked with seniors after surgical interventions and in transitional care. She then continued on to Rebound Physical Therapy in Redmond Oregon, where she worked with athletes and ranchers after surgery and a wide variety of injuries. Her focus was on post-operative care, specializing in rotator cuff repairs and anterior cruciate ligament reconstructions. Finally, Kelly worked with Pediatric Therapy Services/Oregon Aquatic Rehab in Gresham Oregon, where she worked with children and adults of all ages on both land and in aquatic settings. She enjoyed treating kids with developmental and intellectual disabilities, as well as young athletes.

Kelly’s passion is working in outpatient orthopedics. She loves the wide variety of ages and pathologies she is exposed to on a daily basis. Kelly is ecstatic to move back to her hometown and rejoin Lake Washington Physical Therapy in Houghton. She regards the team of Physical Therapists at LWPT as the best in the region. She has worked with Matt Sato as a student volunteer, aide, and now as a Physical Therapist.

Outside of work, Kelly is an outdoors lover. Her main interests include hiking, backpacking, fishing, golf, swimming, cycling, and spending time with family and friends. She has been an avid volunteer as a Team Leader and certified Wilderness First Responder with King County Explorer Search and Rescue for the last eight years. She volunteers her time with the King County Sherriff’s office help to find lost and injured hikers. Her specialties include snow and avalanche rescue, training new volunteers, and leading teams into the backcountry. Kelly is overjoyed to move back to the Northwest and work with those in the Kirkland community.
