Eastern Washington University
LWPT HOughton

Nick grew up in Redmond, Washington and attended Redmond High School where he played football and lacrosse. Since his childhood, he has been hiking and camping with his family throughout the Pacific Northwest and has a love for the outdoors. He gained an interest in physical rehab from both sports training and receiving physical therapy for knee injuries in high school.

This interest led Nick to go to Western Washington University where he received a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology. During his four years living in Bellingham he spent as much time being active outdoors as possible. He took up rock climbing, competed in lifting competitions, learned to sail, and organized volleyball and flag football tournaments for the kinesiology club. Also during this time Nick gained hundreds of volunteer and observation hours from a variety of outpatient PT clinics around the Eastside. These observation hours with numerous physical therapists cemented his desire to apply to PT school.

After graduating from WWU in 2016, Nick met Matt Sato who offered him a job at Lake Washington Physical Therapy as their first PT aide. With the help of Matt and support from WWU professors, Nick was accepted to Eastern Washington University’s DPT program in Spokane.

While attending EWU, Nick completed his first clinical internship with Mandie Majerus at downtown LWPT before returning to school for his second year. His remaining clinical internships were throughout the Seattle area. He worked at UW medical center in the post-op, ICU, and oncology department to rehab patients receiving stem cell and CAR-T cell therapy. And following UW, he completed an internship at the Puget Sound VA working with veterans in nearly every level of the hospital from ICU and inpatient rehab to outpatient low back pain classes and wheelchair fittings.

Throughout PT school and the experiences that led up to it, Nick has felt encouraged by his family, friends, and mentors and is excited for what the future holds.

Nick’s interests include hiking, lifting, climbing, road-tripping, kayaking, camping, anything to spend some peaceful time out in nature.
